Our Origin Story
Ethel Lucas was a matriarch figure in a tight-knit Black community whose home offered warmth, laughter, and care. Her belief in community as a practice lives on in her granddaughter, our Founder and CEO, Naj Austin.
Our mission is inspired by Ethel—we create healing spaces, both virtually and IRL, that center and celebrate people of color through healing, creativity, and most importantly, joy.
Our Mission
We believe that People of Color deserve spaces and experiences that prioritizes their healing and joy.
At Ethel's Club, we see you as a unique individual that deserves celebration and healing. We believe that when given the tools to thrive as individuals, we create new worlds where we come together as a community. Our team is dedicated to seeking and providing more ways to inspire communal care around the world.

Company Ethos
No "-ists", "-isms", or "- phobias."
We have a zero tolerance policy against discrimination, period. This includes, but is not limited to, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, etc.
This is a space for people to be fully seen and heard.
In order to maintain that, we believe that all members are to treat each other with kindness, respect, and empathy.
Open ears, open minds.
Our varying and intersecting identities are what make us stronger. Our members are to approach difference as a practice for communication, not conflict. Everything can be solved through healthy communication.
Community is a practice.
As a member, you’ve committed to the ritual of community building. Our members aren’t afraid to say hello to one another, put each other on, support others, and work towards building together.
To assume makes an ass out of "u" & "me." (or as Cassie would sing, "Me & U")
Members understand that identity is fluid, complex, and always evolving. We assume no one's identification, orientation, or presentation.
Consent is sexy.
All members have full agency and autonomy over themselves, their bodies, and their boundaries. No member is to threaten or take that from another.
Get yo’ friend.
You assume full responsibility for any guests you bring into the space. Members are to make sure their guests adhere to our Code of Conduct.
Leave your burdens at the door.
Members are prepared to bring their full selves to Ethel’s Club. In this safe space, prepare to let your guard down, let joy in, and let abundance flow.
This is your home.
Please treat it like your home (or if you nasty, someone’s home who you really care about). Members are to take ownership of how they treat and care for everything and everyone in the space.
This is a living document.
As we move and grow together, so will our needs and expectations of each other. Members are to honor the Code of Conduct as it updates and expands to best serve and care for its members.
